About the Role

The Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator role at uvation is a critical position that involves managing and optimizing large-scale Linux server infrastructure. This includes ensuring the uptime, reliability, and security of production and development environments. The successful candidate will work closely with DevOps, Network, and Software teams to support mission-critical systems, implement automation, and streamline infrastructure management processes. The role is based in Serbia and offers the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality solutions.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include managing and monitoring Linux servers, performing system upgrades and patches, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The candidate will also be responsible for implementing and managing user access, security policies, and backup and recovery strategies. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as is the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Ubuntu and Red Hat Linux servers in production and staging environments.
  • Perform system upgrades, kernel updates, patch management, and performance tuning to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Implement and manage user access, security policies, and backup and recovery strategies to minimize risk and ensure business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, OS, and network-related issues to minimize downtime and ensure system availability.
  • Maintain configuration management and deployment pipelines using Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools to streamline infrastructure management.
  • Monitor system health and resource utilization to ensure optimal uptime and performance.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud teams for environment provisioning on AWS, Azure, or on-premises infrastructure.
  • Manage server hardening, SSH configuration, SSL certificates, and OS-level security compliance to ensure the security and integrity of systems.
  • Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and incident response activities to ensure business continuity and minimize risk.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, SOPs, and audit reports to ensure compliance and knowledge sharing.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, with a focus on Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Strong command of Bash scripting and automation tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Shell, or Python basics.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus, to ensure system health and performance.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, and firewalls.
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies, such as VMware, KVM, Docker, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze system logs, kernel issues, and service failures.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and CI/CD pipeline environments.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, is an added advantage.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to support global teams.

Nice to Have

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE) certification.
  • Experience managing high-availability clusters, load balancing, and RAID management.
  • Previous experience in enterprise-scale infrastructure environments or tech product companies.
