About the Role

The Regional Billing Coordinator position at Sonic Healthcare USA is a critical role that involves managing billing-related activities for laboratory practices and coordinating with the centralized billing office. This role is essential for ensuring timely and accurate billing processes, which directly impacts the financial health of the organization. As a member of a remote team, the successful candidate will work closely with the central billing office and laboratory personnel to provide exceptional customer service.

The day-to-day activities of this role include performing mid-month and month-end billing reconciliation between the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and the Billing Information System (BIS), responding to inquiries from the central billing office, and utilizing Business Intelligence (BI) reporting to identify trends in billing and payer denials. The Regional Billing Coordinator will also be responsible for managing client bills, accounts receivable, and collections to meet defined targets.

What You Will Do

  • Perform mid-month and month-end billing reconciliation between LIS and BIS to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from the central billing office in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Utilize BI reporting to identify billing and payer denial trends, providing insights for process improvements.
  • Communicate changes related to physicians, clients, managed care agreements, client bill arrangements, and changes in test offerings to relevant parties.
  • Manage client bills, AR aging, and collections to meet defined targets, ensuring effective financial management.
  • Present specific reporting metrics on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to stakeholders.
  • Provide all information received from payers to the centralized billing office, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Communicate with lab personnel to provide customer/client service, addressing queries and concerns promptly.
  • Complete annual training programs within the required timeframe and regularly attend meetings to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality in handling Protected Health Information (PHI), adhering to HIPAA, Safety, and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management team.

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of medical billing experience with exposure to charge entry, posting, claims processing, and collections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with laboratory personnel and the central billing office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and guidelines for handling PHI.
