About the Role

The Regional Customs Leader is a pivotal position at GE Vernova, responsible for overseeing customs operations across the North America region. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with customs regulations, managing operational risk, and facilitating efficient cross-border trade. Day-to-day, the Regional Customs Leader will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to design, implement, and govern customs processes.

As part of the Electrification Segment, the Regional Customs Leader will have a deep understanding of the segment's specific needs and challenges, providing tailored solutions to meet those needs. The role involves acting as a subject matter expert, guiding stakeholders on customs matters, and ensuring that all customs operations are conducted with the highest level of integrity and compliance.

Given the strategic nature of this position, the Regional Customs Leader will report to senior leadership and will be part of the regional customs council, driving alignment, and sharing best practices across the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the North America customs operations strategy, ensuring alignment with the Customs Enterprise Standard and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead Regional Customs Councils to ensure alignment, issue escalation, and sharing of best practices.
  • Manage and maintain productive working relationships with customs authorities and other government agencies.
  • Oversee customs brokers and BPO partners to ensure effective daily clearance operations and drive continuous improvements.
  • Establish and govern pre-declaration review controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of customs documentation.
  • Exercise independent customs judgment to challenge decisions that do not align with regulations or company standards.
  • Identify and mitigate regional and country-specific customs risks.
  • Respond to internal and external audits, inquiries, and investigations.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic reporting and metrics on customs performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on customs matters.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with 5+ years of experience in Customs Processes.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in Customs Processes.
  • In-country Professional Customs Certification or Accreditation with 5+ years of experience in Customs Processes.
  • Strong, demonstrated compliance mindset.
  • Deep, hands-on customs operations experience across US and Canada.
  • Process design and governance experience.
  • Ability to manage brokers, 3rd Party Service Providers, and government authorities.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge and experience to make accurate and timely decisions.
  • Stakeholder influence and constructive challenge skills.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
