About the Role
The Regional Manager position at Article Student Living is a critical role that oversees the overall operations of multiple student housing properties across the United States. This includes managing financial control, budgeting, physical operations, leasing, marketing, capital projects, and staffing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property management, preferably in the student housing sector, and excellent leadership skills to manage a remote team.Day-to-day, the Regional Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all properties under their portfolio are running efficiently and effectively, meeting financial targets, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction. This will involve regular travel to properties, up to 50% of the time, and working closely with the site-level property management teams to address any issues or areas for improvement.
The Regional Manager will report to the Regional Vice President of Operations and will be an integral part of the leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction of the company.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the highest possible net operating income across the portfolio
- Manage and oversee the preparation of yearly operating budgets and forecasts
- Provide regular financial reporting to the corporate team, including income and expense line items
- Ensure that all properties are adequately staffed and that site-level teams are following budgets and observing financial controls
- Analyze leasing and marketing trends and propose alternative strategies to overcome issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors and contractors
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies
- Identify areas for cost savings and implement cost-control measures
- Oversee capital improvement projects and ensure they are completed on time and within budget
- Manage and resolve resident complaints and concerns in a professional and timely manner
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- At least 5 years of experience in student housing property management
- Strong knowledge of financial management and budgeting principles
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to travel regularly, up to 50% of the time
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Adjust and Excel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Nice to Have
- Experience in new development lease-ups and operating properties
- Regional or Area Management experience
- Certification in property management, such as ARM or CPM
- Experience with property management software
