Job Description

About the Role

The Regional Safety Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing OSHA safety compliance and risk mitigation across a multi-state region. This individual will serve as the primary architect for the region's data-driven safety strategy, leveraging Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence to predict high-risk scenarios, optimize resource allocation, and drive Sunrun's Goal Zero culture. The ideal candidate will blend deep OSHA technical expertise with a modern, tech-forward approach to injury prevention, ensuring the safety and well-being of Sunrun's employees.

As a key member of the safety team, the Regional Safety Manager will work closely with regional leaders, safety supervisors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective safety strategies. This will involve analyzing data, identifying trends, and implementing targeted interventions to prevent injuries and illnesses. The Regional Safety Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA 1904, 1910, and 1926 standards.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned safety professional with a strong track record of driving safety excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. They will possess excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve safety goals.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA 1904, 1910, and 1926 standards across all regional branches
  • Lead regional internal audits and serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agency inspections or inquiries
  • Manage the accuracy and timely submission of OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs
  • Partner with Data Science/IT teams to implement AI tools that analyze historical safety data, S.A.F.E. site visit metrics, and telematics to identify leading indicators of risk
  • Develop and track sophisticated Leading Indicators, such as S.A.F.E. visit quality, 'Good Catch' frequency, and training completion rates
  • Manage regional safety dashboards in Tableau to provide real-time visibility into safety performance for executive leadership
  • Utilize data to identify systemic trends in 'Near Misses' and 'Good Catches,' developing targeted regional 'Safety Resets' based on empirical evidence
  • Coach branch-level leadership/supervisors on how to interpret safety data and conduct effective SAFE visits
  • Lead the investigation of high-severity incidents, utilizing data to reconstruct timelines and implement preventative controls

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification highly desired
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in the solar or construction industry
  • Proven track record of driving safety excellence and reducing incident rates
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Excel, Tableau, and other safety management software
  • Experience with AI and data analytics tools, or the ability to rapidly develop proficiency
