Job Description

About the Role

The Regional Threat Assessment Manager will play a critical role in Coinbase's Protective Intelligence program, which aims to protect the company's employees, executives, facilities, and operations from potential threats. As a seasoned professional in threat assessment and management, you will be responsible for leading the regional threat assessment team and providing expert guidance on complex and sensitive threat cases. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including GSOC, Executive Protection, Legal, HR/ER, and Insider Threat, to drive coordinated response and help mature the program's regional capabilities.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of threat assessment methodologies and frameworks, such as JACA, WAVR-21, and CTAP-25. They will be able to conduct thorough investigations, gather and analyze intelligence, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders. The role requires a high level of expertise in threat assessment, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Coinbase is a remote-first company, but not remote-only. The company values in-person collaboration and expects employees to participate in quarterly working sessions, known as "surges." These sessions are designed to foster teamwork, innovation, and creativity, and are an essential part of the company's culture.

  • Partner with GSOC, Executive Protection, Legal, HR/ER, Insider Threat, and Communications to coordinate response actions and manage reporting obligations
  • Produce decision-ready briefings, written assessments, and executive updates that communicate threat posture, risk rationale, and recommended next steps
  • Strengthen regional program maturity by improving intake standards, QA/QC, playbooks, metrics, training, and handoff processes
  • Mentor peers and provide expertise and influence to help drive team success
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement and external partners
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest threat assessment methodologies and frameworks, and apply this knowledge to improve the program's regional capabilities

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting threat investigations and translating fragmented information into clear assessments and prioritized risks
  • Proficiency with case management and intelligence tools, such as Ontic, OSINT platforms, public records research, and social media monitoring
  • Experience coordinating with law enforcement, managing investigative referrals, and navigating workplace violence reporting obligations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

Nice to Have
