About the Role
The Regulatory Operations Analyst will play a critical role in Openai's User Operations team, working to ensure that the company's products and users are protected from legal risk, regulatory non-compliance, fraud, and abuse. This role will involve owning high-sensitivity workflows, managing complex global regulatory escalations, and serving as a strategic partner to cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a sharp, adaptive, and operations-minded individual who can help scale and evolve Openai's global compliance support infrastructure.As a key member of the User Operations team, the Regulatory Operations Analyst will operate at the intersection of operations, compliance, and user trust. This will involve collaborating with Legal, Policy, Engineering, Product, and external vendors to support a global and diverse user base across Openai's suite of product offerings and developer tools. Every user-facing action will be grounded in a commitment to legal integrity, ethical practice, and regulatory excellence.
What You Will Do
- Handle and resolve complex user issues involving trust and safety incidents, regulatory inquiries, and compliance complaints
- Perform risk evaluations and investigations using internal tools, documentation, and third-party data
- Act as incident manager for highly sensitive reviews requiring nuanced interpretation of legal and regulatory standards
- Interface directly with Legal, Privacy, Product, and Support teams to coordinate escalations and resolution paths
- Partner with Legal, Privacy, Policy, and Ops to implement world-class operational workflows for compliance and risk
- Build and maintain tooling, escalation decision trees, playbooks, and knowledge articles
- Contribute to vendor training and governance models, especially during transitions and ramp-up phases
- Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives that strengthen Openai's regulatory, fraud, and legal infrastructure
- Monitor operational health via case quality audits, SLA tracking, escalation accuracy, and data analysis
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in legal operations, regulatory compliance, or trust and safety, especially in a global or high-growth tech environment
- Deep familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, DMCA, EU AI Act, and DSA/OSA
- Experience partnering with in-house counsel, DPOs, or external regulators on audits or escalations
- Understanding of tiered support structures and experience working with vendor operations at scale
- A structured, systems-first mindset to operational governance and risk evaluation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear, empathetic, and effective responses to sensitive issues
- Ability to operate well in ambiguity and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a cloud-based environment, with familiarity with tools like JIRA, Asana, or similar
- Knowledge of AI governance and regulatory frameworks, including emerging regulations and standards
- Certification in compliance, privacy, or a related field
