About the Role

The Rehabilitation Service Specialist (RSS) role at WCG Services is a critical position that entails working closely with veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families to provide a wide range of rehabilitation services. As an RSS, you will be part of a team that is driven by the mission to make a difference in the lives of those who have served. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve determining required rehabilitation assessments, developing thorough rehabilitation plans, and acting as a service integrator to ensure that all aspects of a participant's rehabilitation needs are met.

What You Will Do

  • Determine required rehabilitation assessments to further assess Participant’s capacity for improvement and clarify rehabilitation needs.
  • Coordinate services and plans that are needs-based, goal-oriented, and align with program mandates.
  • Develop thorough Rehabilitation Plans for program Participants in consultation with the Participant, their family/caregiver, Rehabilitation Service Professionals (RSPs), and the Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Case Manager.
  • Act as the service integrator, collaborating equally with medical, psycho-social, and vocational RSPs delivering services to participants.
  • Empower Participants to problem-solve by exploring options of community-based interventions and resources to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Identify barriers or risk factors contributing to suboptimal outcomes and pro-actively develop and implement strategies.
  • Ensure services and plans are safe, cost-effective, and of high quality.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that rehabilitation plans are comprehensive and well-integrated.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices in rehabilitation services.

What We Are Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Rehabilitation, Social Sciences, Health Services, Human Services, or a related field.
  • A health professional designation; or Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP or CVRP-F).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the direct provision of medical, psycho-social, or vocational rehabilitation services (or a combination thereof).
  • Experience working with persons living with mental or physical health problems creating barriers in life.
  • Ability to travel across the region as required.
  • Employment conditional on obtaining federal security clearance – Reliability Status.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with employers, community resources, and training institutions.
  • Current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are encouraged to apply.
