Job Description

## About the Role As a remote inpatient coder at Guidehouse, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient coding of patient records. This position requires a high level of expertise in ICD-10-CM and PCS, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to review patient records, assign accurate codes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inpatient coding, with a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. You will be responsible for maintaining a high level of productivity, achieving 95% accuracy in coding, and meeting productivity standards. As a remote inpatient coder, you will have the flexibility to work from home, with regular virtual check-ins and collaboration with the team. ## What You Will Do - Maintain a working knowledge of ICD-9-10 PCS and CPT coding principles, governmental regulations, and third-party requirements - Assign accurate ICD-10/PCS codes to patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements - Review patient records to ensure accurate and complete documentation - Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure accurate coding - Achieve and maintain 95% accuracy in coding, meeting productivity standards - Stay up-to-date with changes in coding regulations and guidelines, attending training sessions and workshops as required - Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency - Utilize electronic health records systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, and Optum, to access and update patient records - Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient records - Participate in regular virtual meetings and collaboration with the team to ensure effective communication and teamwork

## What We Are Looking For - Minimum 3-5 years of experience in inpatient coding, with a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and PCS - CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification from AHIMA - Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals - Proficiency in electronic health records systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, and Optum - Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology - Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and maintain productivity in a remote work environment - Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately code patient records and meet productivity standards - Experience working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

## Nice to Have - Previous experience working with CDI and physician queries - Strong knowledge and application of government and other payer guidelines as they relate to compliant coding - Experience working in a consulting or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of healthcare operations and regulations
