The Network Data Annotation & Infrastructure Specialist role is a part-time consulting opportunity that supports current and upcoming remote consulting projects. As a specialist in this field, you will apply your network engineering expertise to review and annotate infrastructure data, driving business decisions and collaborating with cross-functional teams. What You Will Do
- Review network-related data, such as logs, configurations, telemetry, event streams, alerts, and time-series metrics
- Label and classify network behaviors, issues, anomalies, system states, and infrastructure events based on provided guidelines
- Support structured annotation workflows for large-scale network and infrastructure datasets
- Identify recurring patterns, unusual behaviors, missing context, and expected classification outcomes
- Review enterprise network scenarios involving switches, access points, firewalls, routing behavior, connectivity issues, and configuration states
- Interpret logs, events, metrics, and configuration details to support accurate technical classification
- Evaluate network data against source materials, expected behavior, and documented infrastructure rules
- Prepare clear written explanations for network observations, classifications, and technical decisions
- Support schema definition and structured data organization for network telemetry and infrastructure data workflows
- Collaborate through structured review processes involving network events, data pipelines, and annotation standards
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working as a network engineer, infrastructure engineer, network operations specialist, systems engineer, or related technical professional
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networks, including switches, access points, firewalls, routing, wireless infrastructure, or network monitoring
- Strong ability to identify network behaviors, operational issues, anomalies, and infrastructure patterns
- Interest in structured data workflows, annotation, data pipelines, or autonomous infrastructure systems
- Clear written communication skills and ability to explain technical reasoning clearly
- A degree or professional background in network engineering, computer science, information technology, systems engineering, cybersecurity, telecommunications, or a related technical field
- Equivalent practical experience in network operations, enterprise networking, infrastructure support, telemetry review, or technical annotation work
Nice to Have
- Experience with enterprise networking environments, NOC workflows, observability tools, cloud networking, or infrastructure monitoring
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Ubiquiti, Aruba, or similar networking technologies
- Experience with logs, metrics, event streams, schema definition, data labeling, or annotation workflows
- Familiarity with data pipelines, machine learning input preparation, or technical dataset review
