About the Role
The Remote RN Telephone Triage role at Virtual Medical Care is a unique opportunity for experienced RNs to work in a fully remote 24-hour On Call Center, providing assessment, guidance, and disposition to patients in need of immediate medical attention. This role entails working closely with a team of RNs and providers to determine the right level of care for each patient, which may include care instructions, telemedicine visits, or referrals to urgent care or emergency services.As a key member of the Virtual Medical Care team, the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving incoming calls from contracted clients, assessing patients' current health status, and recommending appropriate levels of care based on clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and excellent communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, and staff.

What You Will Do
- Receive incoming calls from contracted clients and assess patients' current health status
- Develop plans of nursing service appropriate to patients' healthcare needs
- Demonstrate knowledge of medications and utilize technology to meet job requirements
- Document all calls and actions taken into patients' medical records
- Communicate with healthcare team members to ensure appropriate follow-up care
- Display exemplary patience, courtesy, and flexibility when interacting with patients and staff
- Prioritize tasks and make critical independent decisions
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines and clinical protocols to guide decision-making
- Collaborate with providers to determine the right level of care for each patient
What We Are Looking For
- Unrestricted New York State Licensed RN with a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical hospital or telephone triage setting
- AAS in Nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or related fields preferred
- Current BCLS certification
- Current Infection Control Certificate
- Proficiency in using computer applications and the internet
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and phone etiquette skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations recommended
Nice to Have
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Familiarity with telemedicine platforms
- Certification in telephone triage or a related field
