Research Engineer, Knowledge Team

## About the Role As a Research Engineer on the Knowledge Team at Anthropic, you will play a crucial role in redesigning how the company's AI system, Claude, interacts with external data sources. This entails developing new information architectures and training language models to optimally use these architectures. ## What You Will Do - Design and implement new information architecture strategies from scratch.

• Perform fine-tuning and reinforcement learning to teach language models how to interact with new information architectures.
• Build 'hard' knowledge base eval sets to help identify failure modes of how language models work with external data.
• Design and evaluate advanced agentic search capabilities.
• Collaborate with product teams to quickly prototype and deliver innovative solutions.
• Develop scalable distributed information retrieval systems, such as search engines, knowledge graphs, and distributed data processing.
• Participate in pair programming and contribute to a culture that values collaborative problem-solving.
• Work closely with world-class ML researchers to develop new LLM capabilities.
• Engage in clear written and verbal communication with the team and stakeholders.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and related technologies.

• Good machine learning research experience, with a strong understanding of theoretical and practical aspects.
• Experience developing software that utilizes Large Language Models such as Claude.
