Research Engineer / Research Scientist - Personal AGI, Personality and Model Behavior

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have strong ML engineering skills, research experience, especially with novel and highly capable models, and areas like reinforcement learning and reward modeling. A passion for product-driven research is essential, as the role involves conducting research around personalization, personality, and model behavior by leveraging and developing tools such as synthetic data, reward modeling, and reinforcement learning.

What You Will Do

• Conduct in-depth research on personalization, personality, and model behavior, focusing on how to make AI models more user-centric and emotionally intelligent.
• Develop and refine robust evaluations and model training pipelines to facilitate the team's research and ensure the highest standards of model performance.
• Innovate new post-training methods to continuously improve the capabilities of AI models, ensuring they are aligned with user needs and preferences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to integrate research findings into Openai's products, enhancing their functionality and user experience.
• Utilize and contribute to large ML codebases, debugging issues and optimizing performance to ensure seamless model operation.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and related fields, applying this knowledge to improve research outcomes and model capabilities.
• Participate in the development of the team's research agenda, identifying key areas of focus and contributing to the strategic direction of the Personal AGI team.
• Publish research in top-tier conferences and journals, contributing to the academic community and Openai's reputation as a leader in AI research.
