About the Role
The Proactivity Research team at Openai is dedicated to developing models that can anticipate and adapt to user needs in real-time. As a Research Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving this mission forward. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test ML models, as well as developing robust evaluations to track modeling improvements.The team's work is highly interdisciplinary, combining expertise in reinforcement learning, dataset creation, and post-training methods. You will have the opportunity to work closely with research and product teams to influence the technical solutions and shape the future of AI-powered products.

What You Will Do
- Develop and implement ML models to improve personalization and agentic capabilities
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate modeling improvements
- Collaborate with research and product teams to influence technical solutions
- Develop and maintain large-scale ML codebases
- Debug and optimize ML models for better performance
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ML and AI research
- Contribute to the development of novel and highly capable models
- Work closely with the product team to integrate ML models into products
- Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code
What We Are Looking For
- Strong background in machine learning and ML engineering
- Experience with reinforcement learning, dataset creation, and post-training methods
