Job Description

About the Role

As a Resident Engineer at GE Vernova, you will be the primary technical partner and on-site representative for a Utility Customer, overseeing the long-term reliability, performance, and maintenance strategy of AC Substation installations. You will serve as the bridge between the customer's operations team and the broader GE Vernova engineering and support organization, providing expert technical guidance and support.

The role requires a deep understanding of AC Substation equipment, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control infrastructure. You will be responsible for emergency response, on-site technical authority, and SCADA, control, and protection support.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary on-call technical point of contact for emergency response
  • Provide immediate assessment, troubleshooting, and coordination for critical system failures or unplanned outages
  • Act as the primary on-site resource for troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and technical inquiries regarding AC Substation equipment
  • Provide expert technical support for Substation Control and Protection systems
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive Operating and Maintenance (O&M) procedures
  • Provide mentorship and hands-on training to customer personnel as required
  • Identify, develop, and deliver formal training programs
  • Ensure all scheduled maintenance work is executed effectively and in accordance with the agreed-upon Annual Work Plan
  • Assist in developing optimized work methods to improve efficiency
  • Review spare part lists, inventories, and specifications; provide recommendations for missing or damaged components
  • Proactively monitor substation performance data to identify potential failure modes before they result in outages

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising high-voltage substations
  • Proven field experience and strong field leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including Single Line Diagrams (SLD), general arrangement drawings, installation, and commissioning procedures
  • Strong understanding of EHS requirements for high-voltage project sites
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces simultaneously
  • High attention to safety, quality, and detail
  • Practical problem-solving skills in construction environments
  • Ability to work under schedule pressure while maintaining standards
