Job Description

About the Role

The Revenue Accountant position at Fortive is a critical role within the Finance organization, focusing on ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable revenue recognition as the company grows. This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in ASC 606 and revenue accounting. The Revenue Accountant will work closely with various teams, including Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, and RevOps, to review contract terms and evaluate revenue recognition implications.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical accounting memorandums for complex customer arrangements and maintaining revenue recognition controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SaaS revenue models and experience with audit-ready documentation.

The Revenue Accountant will be part of a dynamic team and will report to a senior finance leader. The role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, and RevOps, to drive business growth and ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on ASC 606, including contract identification, performance obligations, transaction price allocation, variable consideration, contract modifications, and significant financing components
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memorandums for complex customer arrangements, including multi-element SaaS contracts, usage-based pricing, professional services, and partner agreements
  • Partner with Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, and RevOps to review contract terms and evaluate revenue recognition implications
  • Maintain and enhance revenue recognition controls to ensure accurate and compliant GAAP and SOX reporting
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to revenue and deferred revenue, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audits as the primary revenue accounting contact
  • Develop and maintain revenue accounting policies and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with RevOps and Systems teams to improve quote-to-cash and revenue automation processes
  • Own the Standalone Selling Price (SSP) framework, including methodology, analysis, refresh cadence, and documentation
  • Perform SSP analyses to support transaction price allocation in compliance with ASC 606
  • Partner with FP&A and RevOps to assist with revenue forecasting, backlog analysis, and GAAP revenue timing

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in revenue or technical accounting with strong ASC 606 exposure
  • SaaS revenue model experience and audit-ready documentation skills
  • Understanding of subscription, services, or usage-based revenue models
  • Experience with ERP, CPQ, billing, and revenue sub-ledger systems, including NetSuite, Salesforce.com
  • Strong technical judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to translate accounting guidance into operational outcomes
  • Clear communicator with executive-ready writing skills
