About the Role

The RN After Hours Assisted Living role at Cassia is a part-time, remote position that requires a high level of clinical expertise and excellent communication skills. As a member of the After Hours RN team, you will be responsible for triaging calls from clinical staff regarding urgent and emergent resident situations, assessing and prioritizing care, and providing clear and compassionate guidance to ensure timely and appropriate care. You will work closely with hospitals, providers, families, and site leadership to coordinate care and support clinical decision-making.

The After Hours RN role is an extension of the site Director of Health Services (DHS) and requires a strong understanding of assisted living regulations and processes in Minnesota. You will be expected to become licensed in Iowa, North Dakota, Florida, and Colorado, and Cassia will cover the expenses for these licenses.

What You Will Do

  • Triage incoming after-hours calls from clinical staff regarding urgent and emergent resident situations
  • Assess, prioritize, and provide clinical guidance to ensure appropriate and timely care
  • Coordinate care by communicating with hospitals, providers, families, and site leadership as needed
  • Serve as an extension of site DHS to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care
  • Document all calls, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Actively monitor and respond to calls throughout the entire shift
  • Provide clear, compassionate, and professional communication to Assisted Living staff, residents, and families
  • Build trust through responsiveness, clinical expertise, and consistent follow-through
  • Collaborate with the After Hours RN team to ensure seamless care and support
  • Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical skills and knowledge

What We Are Looking For

  • Current Minnesota RN license in good standing
  • Prior RN experience in an assisted living or long-term care setting
  • Director of Health Services experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and respond to calls throughout the entire shift
  • Experience with electronic medical records and a high comfort level learning new technology programs
  • Excellent internet connection and ability to work from a dedicated home office
  • Self-starter with a desire to be part of the RN Triage team that delivers continuity of care during after-hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience with resident care processes in an assisted living setting
  • Familiarity with Minnesota assisted living regulations and processes
  • Certification in gerontology or a related field
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
