About the Role

The Safety Manager position at Bureau Veritas is a critical role that requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to oversee the implementation of the company's safety programs at construction sites across the US. As a key member of the project management team, the Safety Manager will work closely with site managers, contractors, and employees to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and executing site-specific safety programs, conducting safety audits, and providing training to employees and contractors. This is a 100% travel role, with the successful candidate expected to spend extensive time on construction sites, working with project teams to identify and mitigate safety risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other applicable laws and regulations.

The Safety Manager will report to the senior management team and will be expected to provide regular updates on safety performance, incident trends, and compliance issues. What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute site-specific safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Conduct regular safety audits to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Provide training to employees and contractors on safety procedures and protocols
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of project planning and execution
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive safety management system, including policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Conduct regular reviews of safety performance, incident trends, and compliance issues, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Coordinate with corporate management to ensure that safety policies and procedures are aligned with company-wide goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to make sound judgments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with safety management software and systems
  • Strong understanding of construction safety principles, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures

Nice to Have

  • Certification in safety management, such as CSP or ASP
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or other safety management systems
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and management systems
  • Experience with construction project management software and systems
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as safety management, environmental science, or construction management
