Safety Policy Manager, Global Affairs

About the Role

As a Safety Policy Manager, you will be part of the Policy Development and Operations team, responsible for identifying, tracking, and analyzing emerging legislative and regulatory proposals globally. Your work will inform the development of global public policy positions that are informed by legislative trends and Openai's unique technical expertise. You will also contribute to policy campaigns across regions and integrate regional perspectives in company-wide initiatives such as product launches.

What You Will Do

• Develop proactive policy positions by analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and providing issue-area expertise
• Synthesize legislative trends and regional insights, apply cross-functional perspectives, and exercise policy judgment
• Articulate key decisions, trade-offs, and areas of alignment or disagreement clearly
• Work closely with regional teams to understand their needs and priorities
• Collaborate with safety systems, product, and product policy teams to understand Openai's safeguards
• Translate understanding of safeguards into policy-relevant insights, analysis, and proposals
• Contribute to the Global Affairs team's broader thinking about proactive safety policies to advance and advocate for
• Position policies to succeed around the globe
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and internal teams
