Job Description

About the Role

The Sales Associate position at Voltus is a critical component of the company's sales organization, acting as the catalyst for driving growth and securing new business opportunities. This role involves working closely with Sales Managers and Directors to identify and develop new prospects, build strong relationships with key decision-makers, and promote Voltus's value proposition to potential clients. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for sales, a keen interest in the energy sector, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

As part of the Sales Associate Development program, successful candidates will undergo comprehensive training to enhance their sales skills, including cold calling, meeting setup, and deal closure. This program is designed to foster growth and development, equipping Sales Associates with the tools and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to the company's continued success.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with Sales Managers and Directors to set up sales meetings and develop new business opportunities
  • Prospect for new clients, leveraging various sources such as prospect lists, discovery, and individual research
  • Identify and develop new business prospects, understanding customer needs and reporting on account activity
  • Meet or exceed sales objectives for designated energy markets
  • Conduct inbound and outbound telephone calls to identify sales opportunities and promote Voltus's services
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at potential client companies
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activity, using this insight to inform sales strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and maximize sales potential
  • Utilize Salesforce and other sales tools to manage leads, track progress, and analyze sales performance
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to potential clients, highlighting the benefits of Voltus's platform and services
  • Provide feedback and insights to the sales team and other stakeholders, contributing to the continuous improvement of sales strategies and processes

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Six months to one year of experience within an inside sales organization, preferably in the energy or technology sector
  • Demonstrated aptitude for sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and other sales tools, with a strong understanding of CRM principles and practices
  • Interest or experience in the energy industry, with a passion for sustainable energy solutions
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and self-motivation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
  • Experience with Google Suite and PowerPoint, with the ability to create engaging presentations and reports
  • Dedication to giving and receiving feedback, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with energy markets or in a related field, such as renewable energy or energy efficiency
  • Knowledge of distributed energy resources and their application in electricity markets
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies and frameworks, such as SPIN selling or the Challenger Sale
  • Certification in sales or a related field, such as the Certified Sales Professional (CSP) designation
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds
