About the Role

The Sales Development Manager position at Mercury is a critical component of the company's growth engine, responsible for leading and coaching a high-performing team of Sales Development Representatives (SDRs). As a key member of the sales team, this role will focus on driving pipeline generation in new verticals, mentoring SDRs on messaging and strategy, and shaping the playbook for breaking into and winning in new markets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of outbound sales strategies and a proven track record of coaching SDRs to success.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coach a team of SDRs focused on driving pipeline generation in new verticals
  • Develop and refine outbound messaging that resonates with the target audience
  • Oversee pipeline health and lead distribution across the team to ensure consistent, qualified opportunity generation
  • Identify patterns in high-performing outreach and scale winning tactics to drive better conversion rates
  • Build and lead training sessions on prospecting best practices, objection handling, and effective channel usage
  • Motivate and inspire the team to create a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and GTM Strategy to align on target accounts, lead prioritization, and campaign execution
  • Analyze metrics to prioritize high-value opportunities and course-correct quickly
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the sales funnel and conversion rates

What We Are Looking For

  • 2-3+ years of experience in a Sales Development role within a B2B SaaS environment
  • At least 18+ months of experience in a leadership role managing teams of 7+ sales reps
  • Proven track record of coaching SDRs 1:1 and leading training across cold calls, email, and LinkedIn outreach
  • Experience managing a large pipeline across multiple reps, with the ability to analyze metrics and prioritize high-value opportunities
  • Deep understanding of outbound sales strategies and how to drive consistent conversion from prospecting to qualified opportunity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate value propositions and give actionable feedback
  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Excel, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where experimentation and adaptability are key

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Salesloft, Apollo, Gong, and other sales enablement tools
  • Knowledge of new tools, integrations, and AI use cases to improve SDR efficiency
  • Familiarity with the fintech industry and mercury's products and services
  • Experience working in a remote environment and managing a distributed team
