About the Role

The Sales Director role at Gogo Business Aviation is a unique opportunity to develop and win new business in the United States, specifically in the domain of satellite communications (SATCOM) capabilities for Special Mission Aircraft. This includes Contractor-Owned, Contractor-Operated (COCO) Airborne ISR, Aerial Firefighting, MEDEVAC, SAR, Law Enforcement, and other related missions. The successful candidate will work closely with the SVP, SD Government Sales to achieve annual targets and objectives.

As a key member of the SD Government Sales team, the Sales Director will be responsible for developing a go-to-market plan in the United States, specifically to address the sale of SATCOM equipment and airtime into the domain of Government Special Mission Aircraft. This will involve creating compelling and innovative commercial proposals, partnering with various internal groups, and representing the company at regional events, trade shows, and conferences.

The role requires a strong track record of generating new business and revenue, with a focus on entrepreneurial skills and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will have experience in the domain of Special Mission Aircraft, as well as excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

What You Will Do

  • Develop a go-to-market plan in the United States to address the sale of SATCOM equipment and airtime into the domain of Government Special Mission Aircraft
  • Create a pipeline and close near to medium term new business, in accordance with the company’s financial targets
  • Schedule and attend on-site customer demos in partnership with the pre-sales engineering team
  • Use entrepreneurial skills to create compelling and innovative commercial proposals
  • Partner with various internal groups (e.g., Engineering, pricing, marketing) when developing new proposals and commercial offers
  • Represent Gogo Business Aviation at various regional events, trade shows, and conferences to promote products, increase market awareness, and develop new relationships
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision, while maintaining good communication with the wider team
  • Maintain CRM and provide regular and accurate opportunity and pipeline status
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to meet with customers and partners

What We Are Looking For

  • 7-12 years of B2B or B2G sales experience in a related field (e.g., Avionics)
  • 5-7 years of experience in the domain of Special Mission Aircraft
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • High-quality proposal writing and commercial acumen
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
  • Ability to build and develop strong relationships, both internally and externally
  • Proficiency in Excel and other sales tools

Nice to Have

  • Existing contacts and network within the domain of Special Mission Aircraft
  • Prior experience in military or commercial satellite communications (SATCOM)
  • Experience in selling or delivering aircraft modifications
  • Previous military service
  • Ability to learn quickly and make effective decisions
