About the Role
As a Sales Engineer at Datadog, you will be at the forefront of the company's technical sales strategy, working closely with the sales team to articulate the Datadog value proposition to customers. Your expertise in programming and data analysis will be crucial in driving technical evaluations and product demonstrations, helping to qualify and close complex opportunities. You will be an integral part of the sales process, working with customers to understand their needs and communicating the value of Datadog's products.The Sales Engineering team at Datadog is a dynamic and collaborative group, passionate about educating customers on the benefits of observability and driving business growth through technical expertise. As a Sales Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of customers, from small startups to large enterprises, and to develop a deep understanding of their technical challenges and needs.
What You Will Do
- Partner with the Sales team to develop and deliver sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical evaluations
- Own the technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating the value of Datadog's products and working to address any issues or concerns
- Deliver product and technical briefings to potential clients, showcasing the capabilities and benefits of Datadog's products
- Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, wins, and losses
- Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape
- Develop and execute evaluation plans with customers, driving technical sales and strategy
- Collaborate with the sales team to qualify and close complex opportunities
- Provide technical expertise and support to the sales team, helping to drive business growth and revenue
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET
- Strong understanding of data analysis and visualization, with experience working with tools such as Excel
- Ability to travel up to 45% of the time, including international travel
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working with CRM systems and sales productivity tools
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Datadog products or similar technologies
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and platforms
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic sales environment
- Certification in sales engineering or a related field
- Experience working with customers in a range of industries, including tech and finance
