About the Role
As a Sales Manager at Nerdwallet's insurance agency, you will play a critical role in leading and developing a high-performing team of licensed insurance agents. Your expertise in property and casualty insurance will be instrumental in driving agent success and agency growth. You will be responsible for overseeing onboarding, coaching, performance management, and operational excellence across the sales organization.The insurance agency is a new segment of Nerdwallet dedicated to helping consumers confidently navigate insurance decisions. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of a seamless, customer-first insurance shopping experience.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of licensed insurance agents in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
- Drive accountability against core KPIs, including conversion rate, premium production, contact rate, and customer experience metrics
- Conduct regular coaching sessions, call reviews, and performance evaluations to identify opportunities for growth and development
- Establish clear performance expectations, goals, and action plans for agents
- Continuously assess and improve sales workflows, processes, and team operations to drive efficiency, scalability, and growth
- Identify opportunities to optimize lead management, quoting, follow-up strategies, and customer engagement
- Partner cross-functionally to implement operational enhancements and improve the overall agent and customer experience
- Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and Leadership teams to provide feedback on tooling, workflows, lead distribution, and process improvements
- Serve as a key stakeholder in shaping the infrastructure and operational strategy of the agency
What We Are Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience managing and coaching sales professionals, ideally in a high-volume, metrics-driven environment
- 7+ years of property and casualty insurance experience, with agency experience strongly preferred
- Active Property & Casualty Insurance License (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Demonstrated success improving sales performance and consistently achieving or exceeding team goals
- Strong understanding of sales KPIs and performance management best practices
- Experience using data, dashboards, and reporting tools to identify insights and drive actionable improvements
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with sales force automation tools and customer relationship management software
- Knowledge of insurance industry trends and regulatory requirements
- Certification in insurance sales or a related field
