About the Role
The Sales Manager role at Verto is a critical component of the company's growth strategy in Tanzania and the East African Region. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding the customer base, and developing strategic relationships with local businesses. Your day-to-day activities will include identifying and targeting key sectors, designing and executing sales plans, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions to clients.The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Tanzanian market, including economic trends and key business sectors, particularly as related to cross-border payments. You will be expected to leverage your expertise in B2B sales, payments, and market strategy to drive measurable impact in the region. What You Will Do
- Drive revenue growth by acquiring new customers and upselling solutions to existing clients
- Expand the customer base in Tanzania by identifying and targeting key sectors such as trade, logistics, and SMEs
- Develop and execute region-specific sales plans that align with Verto's goals and market dynamics
- Optimize sales processes to ensure an efficient sales pipeline, accurate forecasting, and consistent deal closure
- Foster strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to drive long-term value
- Leverage data and performance metrics to refine sales strategies and improve team efficiency
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align messaging and deliver tailored solutions to clients
- Conduct market research to stay informed on industry trends and maintain a competitive edge
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and expansion
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Verto's products and services
- Provide training and support to new sales team members as needed
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, or a related field
- At least 5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in payments, fintech, fx, or related industries
- Strong local network and understanding of business practices in Tanzania and the region
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and scaling successful sales teams in competitive markets
- Strong knowledge of the Tanzanian market, including economic trends and key business sectors
- Proficiency in CRM software such as Salesforce and HubSpot
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a focus on building lasting customer relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market conditions
Nice to Have
- Experience working with cross-border payments or fintech companies
- Knowledge of Excel and other sales tools
- Certification in sales or a related field
- Fluency in multiple languages, including Swahili
