About the Role

The Salesforce Ads Systems Engineer plays a critical role in Openai's Enterprise Platform team, responsible for building the systems that support the company's emerging ads business. This involves designing and implementing scalable, auditable systems that enable the GTM teams to bring Openai products to customers efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Salesforce development, data modeling, and integration with ads platforms.

As a key member of the team, the Salesforce Ads Systems Engineer will work closely with Ads Sales, Operations, Product, Finance, Legal, and Engineering teams to create reliable workflows for advertiser lifecycle, campaign readiness, approvals, and revenue operations. This role requires a deep understanding of complex advertiser and campaign workflows, as well as the ability to turn these into scalable, auditable systems.

The Salesforce Ads Systems Engineer will be responsible for building the Salesforce foundation for Openai's ads business, partnering with various teams to create a seamless experience for advertisers and internal stakeholders. This is an execution-heavy, builder role that requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

What You Will Do

  • Design and build Salesforce solutions for ads GTM, including user experiences, objects, automations, and guardrails
  • Engineer integrations across the ads stack, connecting Salesforce with ads platforms, product catalogs, pricing/rate-card systems, data warehouses, billing tools, measurement workflows, CLM, and e-signature systems
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document Salesforce solutions, ensuring high data quality and adherence to ads operations, financial controls, privacy requirements, and deployment best practices
  • Partner with Ads Sales, Ads Operations, Product, Finance, Legal, and Engineering teams to translate ambiguous ads-business needs into durable Salesforce-based solutions
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation of Salesforce solutions, aligned with ads operations, financial controls, privacy requirements, and deployment best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize Salesforce requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Ads Sales, Ads Operations, Product, Finance, Legal, and Engineering teams
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Salesforce features, best practices, and industry trends, applying this knowledge to continuously improve Openai's Salesforce solutions
  • Participate in Agile development methodologies, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality Salesforce solutions
  • Contribute to the development of Openai's ads business, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement

What We Are Looking For

  • Advanced Salesforce development skills (Apex, async patterns, APIs) and data model expertise across account, opportunity, campaign/order, approval, billing, and reporting domains
  • Proven experience designing and implementing robust integrations between Salesforce, ads platforms, data warehouses, billing systems, and operational tools
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of partnering with Ads Sales, Operations, Product, Finance, Legal, and Engineering teams to deliver complex requirements
  • Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect) or prior experience in digital advertising, marketplaces, media, commerce, or high-growth SaaS businesses
  • Experience working in fast-moving, highly cross-functional environments, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions
  • Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to create clear, concise documentation of Salesforce solutions
  • Strong understanding of ads operations, financial controls, privacy requirements, and deployment best practices

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with digital advertising concepts, including advertiser onboarding, campaign setup/trafficking, insertion orders, rate cards, creative approvals, measurement, billing, and reconciliation
  • Experience with ad-serving, measurement, data warehouse, or revenue operations integrations
  • Software development experience outside Salesforce, with a strong understanding of programming principles and software development methodologies
  • DevOps management, CI/CD ownership, or Salesforce platform release management experience
