Job Description
About the Role
The Scientific Director, Medical Affairs, plays a critical role in representing Iovance Biotherapeutics as a TIL cell therapy expert in educational, strategic, and tactical discussions. This role requires a deep understanding of cell therapy and its applications in cancer treatment, as well as the ability to engage and educate external healthcare professionals. The Scientific Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of medical strategies with corporate objectives. As a key member of the Medical Affairs team, the Scientific Director will provide therapeutic area expertise in tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy, supporting advisory board meetings and congress scientific forum planning. This role requires a strong ability to partner effectively with surgeons and apply practical insights into tumor procurement and perioperative workflows. The Scientific Director will also collaborate with internal colleagues, including the US and Global cross-functional teams, MRB, external consults, clinical sub-teams, and advisory boards/steering committees.What You Will Do
- Represent Iovance Medical Affairs as a TIL cell therapy expert in internal and external venues
- Work cross-functionally to support Commercial Quality, Market Access, Clinical Development, and the broader Med Affairs team
- Provide therapeutic area expertise in TIL therapy, supporting advisory board meetings and congress scientific forum planning
- Partner effectively with surgeons and apply practical insights into tumor procurement and perioperative workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of medical strategies with corporate objectives
- Support the development of medical strategies and tactics to drive business growth
- Engage and educate external healthcare professionals on the benefits and applications of TIL cell therapy
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cell therapy and its applications in cancer treatment
What We Are Looking For
- Strong surgical and/or cell therapy expertise
- Recent clinical experience in a related field
- Ability to partner effectively with surgeons and apply practical insights into tumor procurement and perioperative workflows
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong understanding of the cell therapy market and its applications in cancer treatment
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with gene-edited cell therapy
- Knowledge of tumor biology and immunology
