About the Role

The Sector Scheduling & Factory Planning Lead is a critical position that will spearhead the development and implementation of master scheduling and factory planning strategies across Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing processes, driving on-time delivery, and schedule attainment. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the manufacturing sector.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Sector Scheduling & Factory Planning Lead will work closely with site planning teams to ensure adherence to process and strategy. This will involve developing and implementing sector-wide governance, processes, and standards for master scheduling and factory planning. The role will also guide, mentor, and develop schedulers and planners across each division, integrating all scheduling and factory planning activity into the SIOP and S&OE processes and cadence.

What You Will Do

  • Develop a best-in-class master production schedule template and implement it across various sites within the sector
  • Assist in building and maintaining master schedules at each site, ensuring they are loaded in the MRP system for downstream planning and execution activity
  • Guide production planning teams to follow the MPS for lower-level planning/scheduling and work order management/execution
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure all capacity planning inputs are current and can be used for short and long-term planning activity and processes
  • Develop sector-wide standards and governance for creating and maintaining a standard master production schedule
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Analyze and resolve scheduling conflicts, identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Implement and maintain production control activity to drive On-time Delivery, Schedule Attainment, and Program Execution
  • Develop and manage metrics to measure scheduling and planning performance
  • Provide training and support to teams on new processes and systems

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong experience in manufacturing planning, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing master scheduling and factory planning strategies
  • Excellent knowledge of MRP systems and production control processes
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with Excel and other planning and scheduling tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SIOP and S&OE processes and cadence
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies
  • Experience with project management tools and software
  • Certification in a related field, such as APICS or PMI
