About the Role

The Security Architect role at August Schell is a critical position that requires expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-level security architecture. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of all systems and networks. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, cybersecurity, and program stakeholders, to develop and implement secure system architectures.

The Security Architect will play a vital role in supporting federal cybersecurity initiatives and will be expected to provide technical leadership on architecture decisions, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance alignment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of NIST Risk Management Framework, FISMA, and related federal standards.

What You Will Do

  • Design and guide the implementation of enterprise and system-level security architecture throughout the development lifecycle
  • Translate federal security requirements, laws, and regulations into technical design controls and processes
  • Develop secure system architectures aligned with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), FISMA, and related federal standards
  • Integrate security controls across enterprise platforms and cloud/on-prem environments
  • Provide technical leadership on architecture decisions, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance alignment
  • Contribute to or lead technical deliverables and performance objectives as assigned
  • Evaluate existing system security posture and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and program stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats and trends, and apply this knowledge to improve the organization's security posture

What We Are Looking For

  • Active Top Secret clearance required
  • Ability to obtain Q Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • 5+ years of relevant cybersecurity or security architecture experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university
  • Experience supporting federal programs or regulated environments
  • Experience with NIST RMF, FISMA, Zero Trust architectures, or federal cloud security standards
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Nice to Have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Existing Q Clearance
  • Experience with cloud security platforms and technologies
  • Certification in a related field, such as CISSP or CEH
