Security Officer

About the Role

The Security Officer will work closely with the security team to identify potential security breaches and implement measures to prevent them. This will involve conducting routine security patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and maintaining detailed records of activities. The role also requires strong interpersonal skills, as the Security Officer will need to interact with staff, contractors, and visitors to ensure compliance with security protocols.

What You Will Do

• Ensure ISPS security procedures are enforced and make recommendations to improve them
• Perform routine security patrols as required
• Maintain a detailed diary of activities at all security positions
• Ensure non-security personnel are not permitted in guard houses or surveillance rooms unless authorized
• Ensure vehicles and personnel effects of individuals entering and exiting facilities are searched as indicated by the Security Specialist
• Ensure all personnel entering facilities are in possession of a valid Buckeye Bahamas identification badge
• Provide relief for the surveillance Officer and monitor surveillance systems to avoid breaches
• Ensure all materials entering facilities are accompanied by a contractor's manifest
• Maintain control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at entrance and exit points
• Recognize and correct safety breaches observed within the facility
• Immediately report any observed security breaches to the Safety/Security Officer
• Maintain good communications with the duty Shift Lead and Safety Officers
• Report security breaches to the duty Shift Lead and Security Specialist
• Maintain a log of security equipment malfunctioning and follow up to ensure deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Related experience in security or a similar field
• Solid understanding of basic security procedures and ISPS regulatory requirements
• Knowledge and skills required to respond effectively to emergencies
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• ISPS certification
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential matters in a tactful and professional manner
• Proactive, energetic, and people-oriented with a balanced disposition

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a similar industry or role
• Additional security certifications or training
• Familiarity with CCTV systems and access control
• Basic first aid and emergency response training
