About the Role

The Senior Account Executive position at Marqeta is a critical role that involves leading the expansion and scaling of strategic partnerships across the fintech, banking, and payments industries. As a key member of the European Sales team, you will be responsible for navigating complex business and technical engagements and driving revenue growth through the development of new customer opportunities. The role requires a deep understanding of the entire payments ecosystem, particularly the issuing side, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both internal stakeholders and external partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in a similar role, with a proven ability to cultivate and manage relationships with executives and entrepreneurs. You will be working closely with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance, and Delivery to define solutions that will empower our customers and drive business growth.

Marqeta's European Sales team is looking to expand its sales footprint in Europe, with a focus on the largest and most impactful commercial opportunities in the region. The team is dynamic and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with executives and entrepreneurs seeking to innovate and disrupt B2B and consumer payments
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance, and Delivery to define solutions that will empower our customers
  • Originate new customer opportunities, respond to inbound opportunities, and shepherd deals from opening through to contract and closing stage
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth and expand existing customer relationships
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities and expand Marqeta's customer base
  • Provide feedback and insights to internal stakeholders on customer needs and market trends
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Marqeta's technology and its applications in the market
  • Communicate the value proposition of Marqeta's solutions to customers and prospects
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and expand Marqeta's customer base

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of success in sales and account management
  • Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, particularly the issuing side
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce and experience with CRM systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with executives and entrepreneurs
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex business and technical engagements
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth and expand existing customer relationships
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in the fintech or payments industry
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java or Python
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
