Senior Accountant, Derivatives & Broker Dealer

About the Role

The Capital Markets Accounting team is at the forefront of Coinbase's efforts to build a comprehensive platform for institutions to participate in the crypto economy. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the timely submission of all required reporting to regulatory agencies, driving the preparation of monthly financial statements, and ensuring the execution of internal controls over compliance, regulatory reporting, and accounting policies and procedures.

What You Will Do

• Support the timely submission of all required reporting to the CFTC, NFA, and other regulatory agencies
• Drive the preparation of monthly financial statements and quarterly/annual financial results
• Support all internal and external audits for the registered FCM and Broker Dealer entities
• Support the execution of internal controls over compliance, regulatory reporting, and accounting policies and procedures
• Monitor the entities' daily liquidity and capital requirements
• Collaborate with leaders across product, engineering, operations, and legal teams to achieve business goals
• Support new product launches and ensure regulatory compliance
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of FINRA/SEC broker dealer rules and regulations
• Stay up-to-date with accounting guidance related to derivatives and hedging

What We Are Looking For

• BA/BS in Accounting or a related field
• CPA certification required
• Big 4 accounting experience
• FCM and/or broker dealer accounting experience
• Familiarity with FINRA/SEC broker dealer rules and regulations
• Familiarity with Futures Exchange / CFTC / NFA Rules and Regulations as they apply to a registered Futures Commission Merchant
• Familiarity with accounting guidance related to Derivatives and Hedging (ASC 815) and customer fund protection guidance related to FCM futures clients (17 CFR 1.20)
• Knowledgeable about investments with an interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency
• Expert project management skills and ability to support numerous projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business stakeholders
