About the Role

The Senior Accountant role at Penn Foster is a critical position that requires a highly skilled and experienced accounting professional to support the company's business-to-consumer operations across multiple entities. As a key member of the accounting team, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making and external compliance requirements. The role involves working closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial data.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting analyses in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Support business-to-consumer revenue accounting and monthly revenue calculations
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses as part of the monthly and annual close process
  • Support audit and compliance activities through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Research technical accounting issues and assist with implementation of process improvements
  • Independently manage workload and deadlines during peak accounting close periods
  • Quickly learn and navigate accounting systems, processes, and reporting tools with minimal supervision
  • Maintain proactive communication and collaborate effectively within a remote-first team environment
  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience at a mid-tier or regional firm preferred
  • Hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and compliance reporting
  • CPA license preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Dynamics 365, NetSuite, or AS400
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
