About the Role
The Senior Algorithm/AI Engineer role at Elbit America is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills. As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing advanced algorithms and AI models to solve complex business challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, product, and business stakeholders, to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions.The role entails leading the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of machine learning, deep learning, and traditional algorithms for business-critical applications. You will stay abreast of AI/ML advancements, evaluate and integrate emerging techniques to maintain a competitive advantage, and mentor junior engineers to provide technical guidance and best practices across teams.
The Senior Algorithm/AI Engineer will report to a senior manager and will be part of a team of experienced engineers and data scientists. The company is committed to supporting the defense, homeland security, and commercial aviation industries, and the successful candidate will be expected to bring their technical expertise to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of machine learning, deep learning, and traditional algorithms for business-critical applications
- Stay abreast of AI/ML advancements and evaluate emerging techniques to maintain a competitive advantage
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and best practices across teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions
- Oversee data preparation, feature engineering, and data quality processes to support robust model performance
- Establish and execute rigorous testing, validation, and monitoring protocols to ensure model accuracy, fairness, and compliance
- Maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation and ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical standards
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate processes, and enhance system performance
- Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and strategy for AI/ML initiatives
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (PhD preferred)
- 4+ years of professional experience in algorithm development, machine learning, or AI engineering
- Proven track record of delivering successful AI/ML solutions in a production environment
- Experience in the technology, information, or media sectors is highly desirable
- Critical thinking and analytical mindset
- Effective communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Project management and organizational skills
- Collaboration and influencing skills across diverse teams
- Advanced programming skills (Python, R, Java, or C++), with proficiency in ML/AI libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Experience with data pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and MLOps practices
- Strong background in statistics, mathematics, and algorithmic problem-solving
Nice to Have
- Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices
