About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Clickhouse, you will be at the forefront of developing a petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platform. Your primary focus will be on crafting an amazing developer experience, ensuring that the tools and services you build are not only reliable and high-throughput but also intuitive and powerful for users. This role is pivotal in Clickhouse's mission to transform how companies use data, and your contributions will directly impact the success of HyperDX.The day-to-day of this role involves owning and building key backend services and infrastructure, collaborating with open-source contributors and customers, and tackling the technical challenges of designing and implementing scalable backend systems. What You Will Do
- Own and build key backend services and infrastructure that power the observability platform.
- Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers to solve their challenges and incorporate their feedback into the backend architecture and API design.
- Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data.
- Engage with the community to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of new features and technologies.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the backend systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a cohesive and effective product.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in backend development and observability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for the backend services.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, with experience in frameworks like Express or Fastify.
- Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.
- Experience with Go is a plus, as there will be occasional contributions to Go-based services.
- Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- A passion for open source and the developer community.
- Experience creating developer tooling and an eye for how to design for developers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to challenges.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases.
