About the Role
ClickHouse, a leader in real-time analytics and data warehousing, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in revolutionizing observability for developers. As a key member of the HyperDX team, you will be responsible for building petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platforms that transform telemetry data into actionable insights. Your expertise in backend development will play a crucial role in shaping the product and ensuring reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs.The role entails collaborating with open-source contributors and customers to solve their challenges and incorporate their feedback into the backend architecture and API design. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where creativity and problem-solving skills are essential. The ability to learn and adapt quickly, embracing new technologies and approaches, is vital for success in this position.
What You Will Do
- Own and build key backend services and infrastructure that power the observability platform
- Ensure reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs that developers depend on every day
- Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers to solve their challenges and incorporate their feedback
- Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data
- Build foundational services that empower engineers to crack production issues like never before
- Participate in the development of the company's open-source platform, HyperDX
- Engage with the community to understand their needs and provide solutions
- Contribute to the development of the company's backend architecture and API design
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of services
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, with experience in Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks
- Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling
- Experience with containerized environments, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with observability tools and a passion for open-source technologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team
- Experience with Go is a plus, as you will occasionally contribute to Go-based services
Nice to Have
- Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases
- Strong opinions on observability tools and a vision for making them 10x better
- Experience with Adjust and Excel, or similar tools
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or GCP
