About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Caspar Health, you'll play a critical role in designing and building high-performance APIs and services that power the company's digital rehabilitation platform. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, UX, and DevOps, to deliver robust solutions and contribute to technical discussions. With a focus on AI-native engineering, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, leveraging your expertise in Ruby on Rails and TypeScript to drive innovation.

The role entails collaborating with the team to architect and implement scalable, resilient, and operationally excellent backend systems. You'll be responsible for ensuring seamless performance from the API to the device, bridging the stack between backend and mobile constraints. What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and improve high-performance APIs and services that power the Caspar Health app
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions and contribute to technical discussions
  • Architect and implement scalable, resilient, and operationally excellent backend systems
  • Ensure seamless performance from the API to the device, bridging the stack between backend and mobile constraints
  • Champion best practices in code quality, test automation, and continuous delivery
  • Contribute to the development of AI-powered workflows and multi-agent environments
  • Partner with the product team to define and implement product features
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure smooth deployment and operation of backend systems
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation

What We Are Looking For

  • Expertise in Ruby on Rails and TypeScript, with a track record of running these stacks in high-stakes production environments
  • Robust understanding of PostgreSQL and experience with AWS (Cognito), Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks (like Cypress) and a strong focus on test automation
  • Understanding of mobile ecosystem and experience with React Native
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and operationally excellent backend systems
  • Strong understanding of continuous delivery and experience with Over-the-Air (OTA) updates
  • AI-native mindset and experience with LLMs and multi-agent setups
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between high-level tech and business value
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive can-do attitude

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning and data science
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and experience with cloud-based services
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and experience with scrum
  • Certification in Ruby on Rails or related technologies
  • Experience with cybersecurity and data protection
