About the Role

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at group.one, you will be an integral part of the WP Rocket Addons team, responsible for developing and maintaining a range of services, including server-side features and commercial platforms. Your primary focus will be on designing, architecting, and building software to deliver the product and marketing vision to users. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Support, to identify the best approaches to build a delightful user experience.

The WP Rocket Addons team is dedicated to delivering high-quality services that meet the company's quality and performance standards. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for reporting to the Engineering Manager and contributing to the team's continuous improvement efforts.

What You Will Do

Contribute to the development and maintenance of WP Rocket Addons services, including server-side features and commercial platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, test, and deliver services that meet quality and performance standards
Actively participate in agile product development and projects, ensuring iterative and incremental progress
Interact closely with the Product, Marketing, and Support teams to identify the best approaches to build a delightful user experience
Review and test pull requests to ensure code meets standards and achieves the desired outcome
Seek opportunities to improve the quality of services, making products run faster, easier to maintain, and more reliable, secure, robust, and scalable
Collaborate with peers to ensure code meets standards and does not cause side-effects
Contribute to the company's internal agentic AI setup, code libraries, process improvements, and functional and technical decisions
Participate in cross-training and growth opportunities with fellow engineering teammates on internal projects
Collaborate with the team to maintain public documentation of best practices and contribute to the company's engineering handbook

What We Are Looking For

Previous experience with PHP and Python is required
Knowledge of Node.js, Django, and/or WordPress is appreciated but not mandatory
Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns and testing methodologies
Experience working in collaborative environments, with a strong focus on teamwork and communication
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions
Strong understanding of web performance, engineering excellence, and user experience
Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality services

Nice to Have

Experience with Excel and data analysis
Knowledge of AI-driven development and machine learning principles
