About the Role
The Senior Benefits Consultant role at Mercury is a critical position that involves guiding customers through the process of designing and implementing their benefits packages. This entails working closely with clients to understand their unique needs and providing expert advice on the most suitable benefits plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end enrollment process, ensuring that all necessary forms are completed and submitted accurately and on time.As a Senior Benefits Consultant, you will be the human face behind Mercury's innovative benefits administration platform. Your exceptional communication skills and deep customer empathy will enable you to build strong relationships with clients, providing them with personalized support and guidance throughout the benefits lifecycle. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a positive experience for Mercury's customers, making the complex process of benefits administration feel seamless and intuitive.
What You Will Do
- Guide customers through the process of designing and implementing their benefits packages, taking into account their specific needs and stage of growth
- Manage the end-to-end enrollment process, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and submitted accurately and on time
- Maintain up-to-date records of customer benefits information, ensuring that all data is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements
- Communicate proactively with customers to resolve issues before they become problems, providing timely and effective support
- Develop and refine internal processes to ensure that no enrollment is ever missed, maintaining the highest level of service quality
- Solve complex benefits problems that may arise, leveraging your expertise and knowledge of regulations and carrier policies
- Manage the client lifecycle at renewal, helping clients choose the most appropriate benefits options and running open enrollment as needed
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales and customer success teams, to ensure a cohesive and customer-centric approach to benefits administration
What We Are Looking For
- An active Life & Health broker license, which is a prerequisite for this role
- Experience in selling or administering small group benefits across multiple states, with a focus on small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and startups
- Exceptional detail orientation, with the ability to build resilient systems and processes that ensure accuracy and compliance
- Deep customer empathy, with a strong ability to understand and address the unique needs and concerns of clients
- Clear and direct communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits decisions in plain English
- A track record of success in your previous roles, with a reputation for being in the top 5% of your peers
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, with strong self-motivation and discipline
- Familiarity with benefits administration software and platforms, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Mercury's benefits administration platform or similar software
- Knowledge of compliance regulations and laws governing benefits administration
- Certification in benefits administration or a related field, such as GBA or CEBS
- Experience in managing and leading teams, with a focus on coaching and development
