Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Category Manager will play a key role in JELD-WEN's global procurement team, leading the management of assigned commodities for the North American region. This will involve developing and implementing short and long-term strategies for cost reduction and value improvement, as well as negotiating major contracts and agreements. As a valued member of the team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and drive business growth through strategic sourcing and supplier development.

The Senior Category Manager will take ownership of the metals category, which includes Steel Coil, Aluminum Extrusions, Roll Formed Steel, and other sub-categories. This will require a deep understanding of the supply market, as well as the ability to analyze data and drive insights to inform procurement decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement approved category strategies to drive performance improvement and cost reduction
  • Negotiate all major contracts and agreements within the category to deliver the best value to JELD-WEN
  • Manage the total lifecycle of supplier contracts, including development, implementation, and renewal
  • Conduct detailed demand, spend, cost, and market analysis to inform procurement decisions
  • Identify and develop new suppliers as required, in accordance with JELD-WEN's supplier guidelines
  • Manage supplier relationships to drive supplier development and integration
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for commodity price trends and advise the business on future impact
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive business growth and alignment
  • Develop and implement cost-effective supply agreements that fulfill supply requirements
  • Drive value through strategic sourcing and entering into cost-effective supply agreements

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a similar field
  • 7+ years of applicable work experience in a senior sourcing role, preferably in a high-volume global manufacturing business
  • Strong background in global sourcing, with the ability to negotiate complex contracts and drive value into the supply chain
  • Demonstrable experience of Value Analysis/Value Engineering processes
  • Deep understanding of Total Cost of Ownership, Supplier Relationship Management, and Contract negotiations
  • Advanced software skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, time management, decision-making, and organization

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience in the metals category, including coiled steel, aluminum extrusions, or roll-formed steel
  • Extensive experience in complex contract negotiation, including index-based pricing contracts and multi-tier price structures
  • Familiarity with rebate agreements and other pricing mechanisms
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual team environment
