About the Role

What You Will Do

  • Handle claims with litigation, complex/catastrophic, and/or coverage elements
  • Manage high-touch customers and negotiate settlements with attorneys or injured parties
  • Exercise independent judgment to settle cases prior to mediation or litigation
  • Establish timely and appropriate reserves based on claim profiles and anticipated financial exposure
  • Collaborate with customers, agents, and brokers to resolve complex claim issues
  • Develop and mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Act as a department leader, potentially serving as an acting manager in the absence of department management
  • Manage outside vendors to ensure cost containment efforts
  • Stay abreast of changes in relevant statutes and case law
  • Participate in agent/client relationship management

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a relevant combination of education and experience
  • Seven years of progressively more responsible experience in a claims environment
  • Experience handling claims in multiple jurisdictions is preferred
  • Bilingual skills are preferred
  • Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged
  • Ability to negotiate, build consensus, and resolve conflict
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
