About the Role

The Senior Commercial Counsel role at Mozilla is a unique opportunity to work with a pioneering technology company that has been shaping the internet for the better over the last 25 years. You will be working closely with various teams, including the Global Business Group, Business Development, and Product organizations, to drive business growth and ensure that Mozilla's commercial strategies are aligned with its mission.

The Commercial Legal team at Mozilla works with every part of the company's business, supporting a wide variety of projects and transactions. As a Senior Commercial Counsel, you will be responsible for building relationships across Mozilla's business teams and providing timely, practical, and business-savvy recommendations in a fast-paced environment. You will also be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of transactions and agreements, including B2B enterprise and SaaS sales, strategic partnerships, marketing, advertising, and vendor engagements.

What You Will Do

  • Build relationships across Mozilla's business teams as a trusted advisor and solution-oriented partner across commercial matters
  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of transactions and agreements, including B2B enterprise and SaaS sales, strategic partnerships, marketing, advertising, and vendor engagements
  • Provide proactive, thoughtful, and solution-oriented guidance and support on commercial matters
  • Manage multiple projects with limited oversight, demonstrating a continued drive towards completion and adapting to unexpected challenges and ambiguity
  • Demonstrate a willingness to jump in and handle a wide range of responsibilities as needed to support the dynamic nature of Mozilla's business
  • Partner with teams, including the Global Business Group, Business Development, and Product organizations, to drive business growth and ensure that Mozilla's commercial strategies are aligned with its mission
  • Guide business teams on operational and stakeholder considerations and drive towards deal execution
  • Leverage strong analytical skills to provide timely, practical, and business-savvy recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to find solutions that meet business needs and align with Mozilla's mission

What We Are Looking For

  • J.D. degree and membership in a state bar in good standing
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience, including experience as in-house counsel
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide proactive, thoughtful, and solution-oriented guidance and support on commercial matters
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across Mozilla's business teams
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of transactions and agreements, including B2B enterprise and SaaS sales, strategic partnerships, marketing, advertising, and vendor engagements
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to provide timely, practical, and business-savvy recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with limited oversight and adapt to unexpected challenges and ambiguity

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with technology companies or non-profit organizations
  • Knowledge of open-source software and the technology industry
  • Experience with Excel and other productivity tools
  • Certification in contract management or a related field
