About the Role
The Senior Compliance Tech Analyst role is a critical component of Coinbase's Compliance Technology team, focusing on the development and operation of data-driven capabilities that enable the company to meet its global regulatory obligations. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex data pipelines that power compliance detection and decision-making systems. Your work will have a direct impact on Coinbase's ability to monitor and investigate potential compliance issues, ensuring the integrity of its financial operations.The Compliance Technology team operates at the intersection of compliance, product, and engineering, collaborating closely with various stakeholders to ensure that monitoring and investigative controls are effective, measurable, and auditable. As a Senior Compliance Tech Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's compliance data strategy, working to improve signal quality, define control performance metrics, and create scalable tooling that enhances the trustworthiness and usability of compliance data.

What You Will Do
- Build and maintain curated datasets and data models that power compliance controls across Transaction Monitoring, EDD/KYC, and Screening systems.
- Own data quality for compliance datasets, implementing validation checks, monitoring, lineage tracking, and documentation to ensure outputs are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams and Compliance stakeholders to close upstream data gaps, standardize instrumentation, and translate control requirements into scalable data structures and feature sets.
- Drive detection signal quality improvements by analyzing detection outputs, identifying opportunities to reduce non-actionable noise while protecting sensitivity, and defining success metrics for controlled rollouts.
- Execute measurement frameworks for compliance control effectiveness, including coverage, timeliness, stability, and outcome-based metrics, and build repeatable reporting pipelines consumable by Compliance leaders, operations teams, and auditors.
- Collaborate with the Compliance team to understand regulatory requirements and ensure that data solutions meet these needs.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines and compliance systems.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new compliance tools and technologies.
- Provide technical support and training to Compliance teams on the use of compliance data systems.
What We Are Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data-heavy technical roles.
- Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex transformations, performance tuning, and data quality checks.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data models using tools such as dbt, Airflow, or equivalent orchestration/transformation frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to execute on ambiguous, cross-functional projects in regulated environments with clear written and verbal communication.
- Python skills applied to automation, pipeline development, and data analysis.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
- Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or GCP.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the financial or fintech industry, particularly in compliance or risk management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as BSA/AML and related standards.
- Familiarity with machine learning or artificial intelligence applications in compliance.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Certification in data science, analytics, or a related field.
