About the Role

The Senior Consultant - Climate Change and Sustainability Services role at EY is a unique opportunity to join a leading team of sustainability experts and contribute to shaping a better working world. As part of this multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with clients across various industries to address complex climate change and sustainability challenges. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing expert advice on ESG strategy, climate risk assessment, and sustainability reporting, as well as collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to develop innovative solutions.

The EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services team is the largest in Oceania, and you will be working with a talented group of professionals who are passionate about driving positive change. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from assurance of non-financial reporting to development of sustainability strategies, and contribute to the growth and success of the team.

What You Will Do

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to advise clients on climate change and sustainability issues
  • Conduct assurance of non-financial reporting, including sustainability metrics and emissions reporting
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies for clients, including setting targets and implementing plans
  • Analyze the effects of climate change on organizations and communities, including water, air quality, and human rights impacts
  • Contribute to the development of methodologies, analytical frameworks, and tools to support client engagements
  • Collaborate with clients to identify and manage climate-related risks and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and industry bodies
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in climate change and sustainability
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal development and client pitches
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to support their professional development

What We Are Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as engineering, science, economics, or accounting
  • Experience in climate change services, either in professional services, industry, or government
  • Experience in financial or non-financial audit, either in professional services, industry, or government
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements with overlapping deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience in and passion for reporting and/or assurance of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice

Nice to Have

  • Professional services or consulting experience
  • Knowledge of energy and emissions reporting schemes, including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme
  • Climate risk assessment and disclosure experience, including knowledge of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Framework
  • Knowledge of key assurance standards, including General Audit and Assurance Procedures (GAAP) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)
