About the Role

As a Senior Customer Success Manager on the Public Sector team at GitLab, you will play a critical role in helping U.S. government and public sector organizations achieve meaningful business outcomes with the GitLab DevSecOps platform. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve partnering with customers to translate pre-sales command plans into clear, actionable objectives, guiding them through their adoption journey, and enabling them on common Git, CI/CD, and DevSecOps best practices. You will act as a trusted liaison between your customers and GitLab's Support, Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Professional Services teams.

The Public Sector team at GitLab is dedicated to supporting the unique needs of government and public sector organizations. As a Senior Customer Success Manager, you will be an integral part of this team, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive adoption, retention, and satisfaction. Your expertise in customer success will help GitLab build strong relationships with its public sector customers, ultimately contributing to the company's mission to transform how the world develops software.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with Public Sector customers to translate pre-sales command plans and desired business outcomes into clear, actionable objectives.
  • Guide customers on how to use the GitLab platform effectively, drawing on common best practices, DevSecOps principles, and typical Git workflows and branching strategies.
  • Map and manage the customer journey, and coach customers on how to adopt new GitLab use cases over time.
  • Act as the primary GitLab liaison for your customers, coordinating responses to questions, issues, and escalations by working closely with Support, Product Management, Sales, Professional Services, and other teams.
  • Own a defined book of business with responsibility for driving adoption, retention, expansion, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current on GitLab releases and help customers understand and apply new features to their environments and use cases.
  • Use project management skills to plan, track, and deliver customer enablement and success initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of GitLab's DevSecOps platform and its applications in the public sector.

What We Are Looking For

  • Eligibility as a United States Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee), in line with government requirements for this role.
  • Background in Customer Success or a similar customer-facing role with a track record of driving satisfaction, adoption, and revenue growth.
  • Experience working with U.S. government and public sector organizations, preferably in a Customer Success or related role.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles, Git workflows, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex customer issues and develop effective solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GitLab's DevSecOps platform or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and infrastructure.
  • Certification in Customer Success or a related field.
