About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer position at Mozilla is a critical part of the Data Engineering team, which oversees the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to the creation of reliable, high-quality models that inform decision-making across the organization. What You Will Do
- Build and manage business data pipelines, ensuring the flow of data is smooth and efficient.
- Transform Firefox telemetry data into structured, high-quality datasets that teams can rely on for decision-making.
- Partner with data scientists, product, and marketing teams to turn complex datasets into models and metrics that drive Mozilla's decisions.
- Ensure datasets remain accurate and performant by utilizing observability tools and participating in a weekly triage rotation to resolve data issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with other data engineers and platform engineers to continuously improve the data platform and workflows.
- Maintain data integrity by enforcing data governance and privacy policies across the tens of terabytes of data flowing through Mozilla's systems daily.
- Contribute to the development of best practices in data engineering, both within Mozilla and the broader tech community.
- Engage with external data communities to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in data engineering.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet business needs while maintaining high data quality standards.
What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex data systems.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and architectures.
- Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and security principles, with the ability to implement these in a real-world setting.
