About the Role

As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing, building, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the cloud-based database infrastructure that supports our mission-critical SaaS application.The Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) role is responsible for improving processes via automation and coding to reduce toil. You will be working closely with engineering and SRE teams to aid in bringing new products to market that require database support. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our database systems.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for implementing a data-driven approach to performance and availability improvements. You will work with the DBA team to understand areas of toil and implement automations and processes to help manage PointClickCare's database systems at scale.
What You Will Do
- Manage and maintain the cloud-based database infrastructure that supports our SaaS application
- Improve processes via automation and coding to reduce toil
- Implement a data-driven approach to performance and availability improvements
- Work with the DBA team to understand areas of toil and implement automations and processes
- Provide database expertise to engineering and SRE teams
- Review database migrations, queries, performance optimizations, and standardize configurations and deployments of new database systems
- Assist the DBA team in performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Implement observability of relevant database metrics and ensure desired database objectives are met
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize database-related projects
- Develop and maintain documentation of database systems and processes
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in database administration or engineering
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based database infrastructure, including AWS or Azure
- Experience with database management systems, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python or Java
- Experience with automation tools, such as Ansible or Terraform
- Strong understanding of database performance optimization and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization using Docker
- Knowledge of Kubernetes or other orchestration tools
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus or Grafana
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
