About the Role

The Senior Developer Experience Engineer role at Sentry is a unique opportunity to shape the future of software development. As a key member of the Developer Experience team, you will be responsible for creating and managing the documentation platform, building content that excites and educates developers, and partnering with various teams to drive product narratives. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with product and engineering teams to test and ship new features, identifying areas for improvement, and developing solutions to enhance the overall developer experience.

The Developer Experience team at Sentry is passionate about making it easier for every developer to use Sentry's products. You will be working closely with a talented group of individuals who share your enthusiasm for building and creating. The team's primary focus is on supporting developers, gathering feedback, and helping product and engineering teams ship new capabilities.

Sentry's hybrid work model, with designated in-office anchor days, encourages meaningful collaboration and provides a balance between remote and in-person work. As a Senior Developer Experience Engineer, you will be based in San Francisco and will have the opportunity to attend and host events, meetups, and conferences in the developer community.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the documentation platform, with the freedom to shape it as you see fit, to answer the question of what great developer documentation looks like
  • Attend and host events, meetups, and conferences in the developer community to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies
  • Build content that gets people excited to build their software alongside Sentry, including blog posts, tutorials, and case studies
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to test and ship new features, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Develop product solutions, identify content and execution plans, and collaborate with teams to drive product narratives
  • Gather insights from users, the developer tool world, and the latest software development trends to inform product decisions
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop great product narratives and messaging
  • Collaborate with sales engineering, business operations, and other functions to support the development of the best content and product stories
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, product managers, and engineering teams
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve the developer experience

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong technical skills, with experience in software development, documentation, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with developer documentation, content creation, and community engagement
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, as well as familiarity with modern front-end frameworks and libraries
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create high-quality content
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Jira or Asana
  • Familiarity with design principles and human-centered design methodologies

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DevOps tools, such as Jenkins or CircleCI
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of security best practices and protocols
