Job Description

## About the Role As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Alma, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the company's fintech landscape. You'll work within the Developer Experience (DevX) squad, part of the Engineering's Platform Tribe, to build and maintain the foundational infrastructure, security layers, and core systems that empower Alma's entire product and engineering organization to scale reliably. Your mission will be to eliminate friction from a developer's machine all the way to production, ensuring fast feedback loops and secure deployments.

The DevX squad is dedicated to the daily lives of Alma's engineers, focusing on building, optimizing, and maintaining delivery systems, local development environments, and CI/CD automation. You'll operate in a highly dynamic, polyglot environment, driven by technical curiosity and a passion for exploring new tools and technologies to continuously elevate engineering standards.

The Platform Tribe, comprising the DevX squad and the Site Reliability Engineering quad, is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality and trust while pushing innovations at Alma's pace. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll be a technical referent, driving engineering standards forward and acting as a trusted partner for product engineering squads on delivery and infrastructure best practices.

## What You Will Do - Own and continuously optimize CI/CD pipelines and delivery workflows, ensuring fast feedback loops and secure deployments.

  • Build and evolve the local developer experience, making it seamless for engineers to spin up, test, and debug services locally across a variety of languages and frameworks.
  • Own and maintain part of Alma's cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms using Terraform and Kubernetes.
  • Participate in identifying and solving infrastructure-related production issues and performance troubleshooting, upgrading platforms for long-term resilience.
  • Act as a technical referent and drive engineering standards forward by sharing expertise and providing guidance.
  • Encourage a culture of technical curiosity by frequently evaluating, benchmarking, and prototyping emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with product engineering squads to promote a culture of continuous learning across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for DevOps processes and infrastructure.
## What We Are Looking For - Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in DevOps.
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, TypeScript, or PHP.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog and Postgres.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
## Nice to Have - Experience with GCP and Google Cloud services.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Certification in DevOps or a related field.
  • Experience with other cloud providers like AWS or Azure.
