Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Director of Nuclear Programs will play a critical role in Deep Fission's journey toward commercial deployment of its revolutionary deep borehole pressurized water reactor. As the senior organizational integrator, this individual will be responsible for building and aligning corporate programs across various departments, ensuring regulatory credibility and commercial readiness. The role entails close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, procurement, construction, operations, safety, and compliance.

Given the company's recent growth and public listing, this position requires a leader who can navigate complex regulatory requirements while driving innovation and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the nuclear industry, excellent program management skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

The Senior Director will report directly to the executive team and will be responsible for making strategic decisions that impact the company's growth and success.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive programs for nuclear project development, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and objectives, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
  • Collaborate with the executive team to define and implement strategic plans for nuclear program development and commercial deployment
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those set by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with nuclear program development, including safety, environmental, and financial risks
  • Develop and manage budgets for nuclear program development, ensuring efficient use of resources
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for process improvement and innovation in nuclear program development
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry partners, and external experts
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to continuously improve nuclear program development and deployment

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in nuclear program development or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of nuclear regulations and industry standards, including those related to safety, security, and environmental protection
  • Excellent program management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and teams
  • Experience with remote work and digital collaboration tools, with the ability to manage and motivate distributed teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, physics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience with budget management and financial planning
